How to Choose the Right Mini Catalizador®

Choosing the right Mini Catalizador® is simple. Just follow these three steps:

1. Check Your O2 Sensor Thread

Our Mini Catalizador® O2 sensor spacers use a universal M18 × 1.5 thread and are designed for most vehicles with a threaded downstream (post-cat) O2 sensor.

Important: The spacer is installed on the downstream/post-cat O2 sensor, not the upstream/pre-cat sensor.

2. Choose the Right Angle

Choose the angle based on the available space around your downstream O2 sensor:

  • Straight (180°) – Best when there is plenty of space around the O2 sensor.
  • 45° – A good choice when moderate clearance is needed.
  • 45° Pro – Same 45° angle, but with a larger internal catalytic core for stronger performance.
  • 90° – Ideal for tight spaces and our most popular option.
  • 90° Pro – Same 90° angle, but with a larger internal catalytic core for stronger performance.

Tip: If you're not sure which angle to choose, the 90° version is usually the easiest to install in tight areas.

3. Choose the Correct Quantity

The number of Mini Catalizador® spacers you need depends on the number of downstream/post-cat O2 sensors on your vehicle.

Install one spacer for each downstream/post-cat O2 sensor.

For example:

  • 1 downstream O2 sensor → 1 spacer
  • 2 downstream O2 sensors → 2 spacers

On many 4-cylinder vehicles, there is usually 1 downstream O2 sensor.

Many V6/V8 vehicles have 2 downstream O2 sensors, typically one for each bank, so 2 spacers are usually required.

What About P0420 or P0430?

P0420 and P0430 are catalytic-efficiency related trouble codes and can help identify which bank is reporting the issue.

However, the code alone does not determine how many spacers you need.

The safest way to choose the quantity is to count the downstream/post-cat O2 sensors on your vehicle and install one spacer on each one.

P0420 → Bank 1 catalytic efficiency code

P0430 → Bank 2 catalytic efficiency code

If your vehicle has both codes and has two downstream O2 sensors, 2 spacers are typically recommended — one for each downstream O2 sensor.

Quick Guide

Thread: M18 × 1.5
Installation position: Downstream / post-cat O2 sensor
Quantity: 1 spacer per downstream O2 sensor
Angle: Choose based on available clearance
Not sure which angle? 90° is the most popular choice for tight spaces.

Good quality, very affordable, convenient kit for changing out oxygen sensors

I really like this little kit. It comes with so much for so little money. It's definitely a great bargain. I use it for it to replace an oxygen sensor on my truck and it performed flawlessly. I like that they have a short, a tall and different sockets that fit a different size socket wrench. One of them fits a 3/8 which is not common with this sort of tool. The nice little case is a welcomed addition, otherwise these tools would get lost in the mix with other regular sockets. The bungs on my headers weren't fouled up but it is nice to have the included thread cleaner in case the threads need some work. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and I can recommend it.

Works like it’s supposed to

This tool is a must if you’re trying to get an oxygen sensor out of your car. The oxygen sensor I had had been in place since 2007 since that’s when they built a car. It really didn’t wanna come out. I was able to put a hollow metal pipe on the ratchet to get enough leverage to loosen it up. But the tool held in there and did what it was supposed to do.

Great Value and Fit!

I got this set as a backup set for removing O2 sensors. These sensors can be difficult to remove if they've been installed for a while. Even with good sockets, there is always the possibility of potential issues. This set is an exceptional value. It's excellent quality and includes a hard case. They have a great finish with sizes clearly marked. These fit well, and sizes are accurate. They arrive oiled in the case and ready for use.

Helps Accomplish The Job

Some O2 sensors are just miserable to replace and that mostly depends on their location. This socket will make that miserable job a bit more pleasant since tight locations make open end wrenches very difficult to turn. This is a heavy socket designed for ⅜ inch square driver or ratchet and is very capable of turning out then turning in most O2 sensors.

good for driveway mechanic

This offset oxygen sensor socket is well-made and very practical for working on vehicles with limited space. The side wire gate design allows easy access to sensors without damaging the wiring, and the 3/8-inch drive fits standard ratchets securely. It fits most cars and makes removing and installing oxygen sensors much easier compared to a regular socket.

The construction feels durable, and the finish resists wear even after repeated use. For anyone doing DIY automotive work or repairs, this tool is a reliable addition to the toolbox.

QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS

What causes the Check Engine Light (CEL) to turn on?

The Check Engine Light (CEL) can turn on for various reasons, with a faulty catalytic converter being one of the most common causes, especially when P0420/P0430/P0042 codes are present. When the catalytic converter's efficiency drops or it gets damaged, exhaust pollutants are not fully converted, triggering the CEL.

Common signs of a faulty catalytic converter include:

  1. Check Engine Light (CEL): Common codes like P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1) and/or P0430 may appear.
  2. Lack of Power: Noticeable power drop after the vehicle warms up.
  3. Speed Limitation: Difficulty in exceeding speeds of 30-40 mph (48-64 km/h).
  4. Unpleasant Odors: A rotten egg smell coming from the exhaust.

If you detect these codes, our product is the ideal solution.

What is Mini Catalizador?

Note: Don’t just rely on using an extender, as they often don’t work. Our Mini Catalizador CEL FIX is an innovative solution that incorporates a built-in mini catalytic converter, meeting European 5 standards. It is specifically designed to effectively resolve CEL issues caused by high-flow catalytic converters (HIFLOW Cat), deleted catalytic converters, or faulty catalytic converters.

How it Works:

First, by adjusting the position of the second O2 sensor, moving it away from the direct exhaust flow, our built-in mini catalytic converter starts to function. Its operation is similar to a traditional catalytic converter, converting harmful exhaust gases into harmless substances. This effectively "tricks" the ECU into thinking the catalytic converter is still working, helping eliminate the annoying Check Engine Light (CEL) and resolve persistent error codes such as P0420 and P0430. This solution is especially suitable for vehicles with modified exhaust systems, vehicles that have deleted the stock catalytic converter, or those with faulty catalytic converters.

Benefits:

  1. Optimizes Fuel Efficiency: A worn-out oxygen sensor can lead to excessive gasoline consumption and accelerate catalytic converter damage. Our Mini Catalizador helps optimize fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, and makes the engine more eco-friendly.
  2. Emission Compliance: In regions with emission inspection requirements, a faulty CEL and O2 sensor may lead to inspection failure. Our product eliminates the CEL light, ensuring your vehicle complies with emission standards and passes inspections smoothly.
  3. Solves Common Fault Codes: Our solution addresses common fault codes like P0420, P0042, and P0430, ensuring your vehicle runs smoothly and reducing the risk of more significant problems.

Overall, the Mini Catalizador CEL FIX provides an easy and effective solution for modified, deleted, or faulty catalytic converter vehicles, ensuring emission compliance and optimizing vehicle performance.

What is the Mini Catalizador made of?

The Mini Catalizador is made from T-304 stainless steel, which offers excellent corrosion resistance, rust resistance, anti-flaking, and anti-bubbling properties.

Compared to other similar products, the advantages of Mini Catalizador include:

Material: The Mini Catalizador uses T-304 stainless steel, while some other products may use galvanized carbon steel filled with steel wool. Galvanized carbon steel can bubble, flake, and rust in high-temperature environments, while T-304 stainless steel has better high-temperature performance and corrosion resistance, allowing it to operate stably at temperatures exceeding 620°F.

Durability: Due to the use of high-quality stainless steel, the Mini Catalizador will not rust, corrode, or suffer other damage, making it more durable than many cheaper products. This reduces issues caused by metal corrosion.

Efficiency: The Mini Catalizador is equipped with a three-way ceramic honeycomb element coated with platinum, rhodium, and palladium, which effectively converts harmful exhaust gases, just like the vehicle's original catalytic converter. This helps eliminate oxygen sensor error lights (CEL). In contrast, some cheaper products may lack this conversion efficiency, leading to more frequent failures.

Easy Installation: The Mini Catalizador is very easy to install, requiring no welding or cutting—simply screw it into the existing O2 sensor interface. This makes it more convenient than other products that require complicated installation processes.

Is the Mini Catalizador compatible with my vehicle?

Mini Catalizador is a universal product designed to fit O2 sensor interfaces with M18 x 1.5mm threads, compatible with 99% of vehicles on the market, including but not limited to BMW, Audi, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Ford, Chevy, Subaru, Mazda, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Chrysler, Dodge, and more.

Which angle should I choose?

Based on your exhaust system layout and available space, choosing the right Mini Catalizador spacer angle is crucial. We now offer five angle options: 0° (straight), 45°, 45° Pro, 90°, and 90° Pro, all compatible with vehicles that have M18 x 1.5mm O2 sensor bungs. Each angle suits different installation conditions:

0° (Straight):
Ideal for vehicles with sufficient straight space in the exhaust system, offering simple and direct installation.

45°:
Suitable for exhaust systems with limited space, helping to adjust the O2 sensor position for a proper fit.

45° Pro:
Upgraded version of the 45° design, optimized for better performance and a higher success rate in resolving check engine lights, while still fitting well in moderately tight spaces.

90°:
Best for tight or hard-to-reach areas, providing flexibility for installation in compact spaces.

90° Pro:
Upgraded version of the 90° design, featuring enhanced internal structure for improved performance and higher success rate in resolving check engine lights, especially on more sensitive or modern vehicles.

For the best fit, choose the angle that matches your vehicle's exhaust system layout. If you're unsure, it's recommended to consult your mechanic, who can suggest the most suitable option based on your vehicle’s specific needs.

How many Mini Catalizador do I need?

The number you need depends on your vehicle’s exhaust system:
Single exhaust pipe: You need 1 Mini Catalizador
Dual exhaust pipes / V6 / V8 engine: You need 2 Mini Catalizadores (one for each exhaust pipe)

💡 Simple rule of thumb: Count your exhaust pipes — get one Mini Catalizador for each.

If you're unsure, it's best to consult a professional mechanic to ensure you purchase the correct quantity.

How to install Mini Catalizador?

Installation Steps:

  • Jack up car if necessary, find extended bung which need to replace.
  • Loosen old oxygen sensor spacer, bolt it on our new sensor spacer.
  • Bolt new sensor spacer to pipe by hand firstly. Tighten with a wrench.
  • Please click the link https://www.minicatalizador.com/pages/how-to-install to watch the installation video.
